Chemistry Project The Factors that Affect the Speed of Sugar Dissolving By Paren Maniar 9F Aim - We aim to investigate changing the amount of sugar to see how it affects the speed of sugar dissolving in water. Prediction - When we increase the amount of sugar each time we think the time taken to dissolve will take longer and at a point it will get saturated. Scientific Theory - I think this will happen because when something dissolves in water, it breaks down the solute to make it dissolve, the particles that the solute is made up of, break apart and fit in between the water particles so. If there is lots of water to break a solute it will do so but too much solute, then water particles are already combined with sugar particles therefore leaving the rest of the sugar un-dissolved and this is known as saturation or the solution is saturated.
