Introduction A body is found in the sea, but the forensic scientist is suspicious and thinks that the murder took place elsewhere and the person has been dumped in the bath or a local fresh water lake next to a copper mine. What the forensic scientist has to do is do a test to see if he is correct or if he is wrong. Planning The two tests I had to carry out to do this test were Testing with solutions and Flame test. In the experiment I had to find out what ions were in the water these are my results. Sea water Na+ = Sodium K+ = Potassium Ca2+ = Calcium Cl- = Calcium So4 2- = Sulphate Co3 e- = Carbonate Lake water Ca2+ = Calcium Cu2- = Copper Cl- = Chloride Bath water Na+ = Sodium Co3 2 = Carbonate Safety Points 1.
