Rates of Reaction Coursework Plan During this investigation I am going to add dilute hydrochloric acid to calcium carbonate (powder), but vary the volume of acid. I am also going to collect the amount of gas given off, and to record the results (time) it takes for the gas to finally disappear. After every 10 seconds, I am going to record how much gas is given off, by recording the water level, from the measuring cylinder. To make sure the investigation is a success, I am intending to vary the amount of dilute hydrochloric acid being used, for example, using the concentration of 1 Molar then 0.8 Molar. I am also going to vary the volume of Hydrochloric acid and the volume of water used.
