Geology Coursework: Mineral Density Introduction There are many types of mineral in the world. A mineral is a substance, which contains only one type of molecule (PbS or NaCl). Minerals occur naturally as homogeneous solids that have a definite chemical composition and a distinctive internal crystal structure. To calculate the density I will be using the formulae: Density = Mass/Volume This will give answer in grams per centimeters cubed (g/cm3) To calculate the density you must know the: * Mass (measured in grams * Volume (measured in cm3) My Aim My aim is to calculate the density of some common minerals.
