Science investigation; Chemistry Investigating the temperature increase from the reaction between Zinc powder and copper sulphate when varying the concentration of copper sulphate My plan I am going to investigate the temperature changes in a reaction between zinc powder, and copper sulphate. In this experiment I will be varying the concentration of copper sulphate used in this reaction: Zinc + Copper sulphate = Copper + Zinc sulphate Zn + CuSO = Cu + ZnSO Background knowledge This experiment is an exothermic one. Exothermic reactions release heat energy to the surrounding so the surrounding temperature rises. [image002.gif] Exothermic reaction graph This graph shows that as time progresses, there is less energy. Exothermic reactions occur because new bonds are made as the reaction occurs; bonds are broken in this process, and new ones are made. These new bonds are made stronger than those broken. If in excess, heat change is no...
