INVESTIGATION I am going to investigate how I can speed up the rate of reaction between sodium disulphate and hydrochloric acid. Background Knowledge Temperature of Acid Concentration of Acid Surface Area Last year my class conducted experiments of the rates of reaction between marble chips and hydrochloric acid. (1) WEAK ACID In this experiment we had a beaker of weak acid and a beaker of strong acid of which both contained a chip of marble. The stronger acid made the marble chip react and dissolve faster because there are more acid particles to attack it. (2) In our second experiment we had two beakers of acid (of the same strength). I heated up one beaker of acid and left the other one. The acid heated, dissolved the marble chip quicker. This is because the acid particles got heated and got more energy and moved quicker. This meant they collided with the marble chips more and mate it dissolve quicker. (3)...
