How Temperature Effects The Rate Magnesium Reacts In Hydrochloric Acid There are many factors which affect the rate of reaction, a catalyst, area of particles, concentration, temperature and pressure. I will be focussing on how temperature affects the rate of reaction. Aim - To study whether the temperature of hydrochloric acid affects the speed at which magnesium completely dissolves inside it. The equation of this reaction is: Hydrochloric acid + Magnesium Magnesium Chloride + Hydrogen 2HCL + Mg MgCl2 + H2 Hypothesis - I predicts that by increasing the temperature of the acid, I will increase the rate at which magnesium dissolves in hydrochloric acid. Theory - The collision theory states that the rate of reaction depends on how often and how hard reacting particles (i.e. magnesium and hydrochloric acid) collide with each other. The hotter the temperature, the more kinetic energy particles have, so they collide more often, and more vigorously. Two particles...
