Finding the accurate concentration of the acid used in the titration experiment: In this experiment, I am to work out the concentration of the sulphuric acid in the titration of: Sulphuric acid And sodium carbonate: H2SO4 + Na2CO3 Na2SO4 + H2O + CO2 From the balanced equation above, we can say that one mole of Sulphuric acid (H2SO4) reacts with one mole of Sodium carbonate (Na2CO3) to give one mole of sodium sulphate (Na2SO4), one mole of carbon dioxide (CO2) and one mole of water (H2O). ?We obtain a ratio of 1:1 Sub substance Formula Mass of 1 mole (in grams) Sulphuric Acid H2SO4 (2 x 1) + (1 x 32) + (4 x 16) = 98 Sodium carbonate Na2CO3 (2 x 23) + 12 + (3 x 16) = 106 From this table, I find that a mass of 106g is needed to make 1000 cm3 of one mole of sodium carbonate.
