Determination of the relative atomic mass of lithium Introduction: In this experiment the relative atomic mass of lithium will be determined by two different methods: 1) By measuring the volume of hydrogen produced 2) By titrating the lithium hydroxide produced First thoughts: I will follow the plan with careful consideration of accuracy, sensitivity of equipment and reliability of results. I will ensure that the correct formulae are used to determine the relative atomic mass and will conclude with a comparison of my results and the actual relative atomic mass of lithium. Experimental considerations: The following are important aspects to consider when carrying out part one of the experiment: Ensure that the bung and delivery tubes are securely attached, as gas may be lost through loose connections.
