Invertase is an enzyme used to hydrolyse sucrose. Design an experiment to find out whether immobilised Invertase molecules are more thermostable than Invertase solution. Immobilised enymes 1. Place 50cm3 of 5% sucrose solution in to a 250cm3 beaker using a 50cm3 pipette and pipette filler. 2. Weigh out exactly 10.5 grams of immobilised Invertase enzymes on a top pan balance on a paper towel, place the paper towel on the balance and re zero the top pan balance before weighing the immobilised enzymes. 3. Place the 50cm3 of sucrose solution into the 30 degree thermostatically controlled water bath and start a stopwatch, place a thermometer in to the water inside the water bath (not inside the beaker) and record its actual temperature in degrees Celsius to 1 d.p, which is not necessarily the temperature of the label on the side of the thermostatically controlled water bath, record the temperature in a table. 4.
