Entry 3-September 1883 Dear Diary, It doesn't seem like it but already one whole week has passed since we set off from Dundee and quite a lot has taken place in the meantime. I am beginning to get into the routine of each tiring day, but although a few things are the same as back home there are many changes. Every day I usually have to wake up at about half past six in the morning and although you may not think so there are many duties to do. First of all when I wake up I usually tidy my berth and then go to the bathroom to clean up a little. As I have already mentioned there are only four lavatories and bathrooms on board the ship and so each day just to use the bathroom there is a very long wait.
