Chemical Economics Investigation: - speeding up the reaction speed between calcuim carbonate and hydrochloric acid Aim The aim of this investigation is to see how quickly calcuim carbonate and hydrochloric acid react together to form calcium chloride, water and carbon dioxide. I was measuring the amount of carbon dioxide produced with a gas syringe. I had two choices of ways to speed up the reaction * Heat up the hydrochloric acid before adding the calcuim carbonate crystals to it. * Or increase the amount of hydrochloric acid (concentration) each time before adding the calcuim carbonate crystals to it. I chose to heat up the hydrochloric acid. Prediction I predict that by heating up the hydrochloric acid the speed of the reaction will increase. This because when you heat up the solution the particles become more active and start to move/ vibrate faster, by the particles being in this fast motion their will be more collisions between...
