Calcium + Hydrochloric -> Calcium + Carbon Carbonate Acid Chloride Dioxide Prediction I predict that the higher the concentration of hydrochloric acid, the quicker the reaction between hydrochloric acid and calcium carbonate will take place. E.g. double the concentration, halve the time it takes for the reaction to take place. This is because as a substance becomes more concentrated there are more particles of that substance in a given space. The greater the concentration of particles, the greater the chance they have of colliding with each other and therefore more chance of reacting quickly. This is the kinetic theory.
