Are all Saccharides Reducing Sugars? I am going to do an experiment to find out if all saccharides are reducing sugars Equipment Test tube's Galactose Sodium Bicarbonate Maltose Benedict's Solution Sucrose Water Bath Lactose Test Tube Rack Glucose Hydrochloric acid Method I will first set up the experiment by placing 5 test tube's in the test tube rack, in each separate test tube I will put a different saccharide and this will be measured to 2cm3 for each. I will then one by one add a dropper full of benedict's solution to each test tube and then place the test tube into the water bath for 2 minutes; I will repeat this process for each sugar. After the two minutes are up I will take the test tube out of the water to check if it has changed colour and will record the results whether it has or not.
