GCSE Chemistry Coursework 2006 An investigation of what factors affect the volume of gas produced when an acid reacts with a solid. Plan Outline My experiment will allow me to see how much gas is produced when an acid reacts with a solid. It will also allow me to calculate the concentration of the acid. In this case, the acid is dilute Hydrochloric Acid and the solid will be one of three. The three solids available are: * Calcium Carbonate powder (Limit 5g) * Small Marble chips (Limit 5g) * Magnesium Ribbon (Limit 1.0g) I also have a limit of 200cm3 of dilute Hydrochloric acid. The experiment must be undertaken while adhering to these limits. If this limit is exceeded, then unnecessary experiments have been done or too much has been used in the experiments already done. The variables in this experiment are * The concentration of the dilute Hydrochloric Acid (about 1M). This will be the control variable...
