An investigation in to the rate of reaction between hydrochloric acid and Calcium carbonate Plan: Aim: The primary aim of this investigation is to examine the effect on reaction speed caused by changing the concentration of hydrochloric acid. Prediction: I predict that as the concentration of Hydrochloric acid is decreased, the rate of the reaction will be slower. To carry out my experiment the apparatus I will require is as follows: Clamp stand Boss Clamp Gas syringe Conical flask Stop clock The chemicals I will require are as follows: Hydrochloric acid Water Calcium carbonate chips How I will set out the apparatus: Method: Firstly, the clamp will be securely fastened to the clamp stand by a boss. Then the gas syringe will be gripped by the clamp and held horizontally. Next, a delivery tube will be fixed on the end of the gas syringe and to make sure it is air tight, a tight rubber tubing is used. Before the experiment is started I will...
