Joseph Coyle 10J An Investigation Into The Chemical Weathering of Limestone Purpose of experiment: To investigate what the effects of acid rain on limestone are and to discover whether the concentration of the acid affects the rate of reaction of the weathering of the limestone. Plan: We will put hydrochloric acid and limestone into a conical flask, and vary the concentration of the acid to determine if the concentration of the acid affects the rate of reaction of the weathering of the limestone. Pre-trial run: When we carried out our pre-trial run, the experiment was not altogether a success! We carried out this pre-trial run, to see if anything needed to be changed. First of all, we noticed that we were allowing the gas to get out of the measuring cylinder before we called stop. We rectified this by shouting stop at the 25 ml mark on the measuring cylinder during our first trial....
