"A satisfied workforce is not always a productive workforce" In today's modern business world we hear a lot about motivation and the importance of "hygiene" factors to help increase your businesses output. It is sometimes easy to forget that not that long ago men used to crawl around in small, dark holes were illness and even deaths often occurred and a bosses employees meant little to him. So, why the change? Did people work "harder" when their was a stick rather than a carrot or do modern business's benefit from trying to satisfy their workforce. The first thing to note about the title statement is that it differs greatly depending on who would read it. Just consider the words "satisfied workforce" for a moment. If a Managing Director was to read this he may think that he has satisfied his workforce because they have a lovely rest area, share options, company cars...
