The purpose of this essay is to discuss how Millennium Point an attraction based in Birmingham, will attempt to overcome its current decline in visitor numbers. The essay shall appraise the existing operation and outline a feasible proposal in order to revitalise the attraction. The likely challenges managers may encounter when seeking to do so are also highlighted. According to Middleton (1988 - cited in Swarbrooke, 2001) "an attraction is a designated permanent resource, which is controlled and managed for the enjoyment, amusement, entertainment and education of the visiting public". Swarbrooke (2001) suggests attractions are the main motivators for tourist trips and are the core of the tourism product. Hence attractions can understandably be the most complex operation to manage.
