Project Handover, Closure and Post Project Appraisal 1.1 Termination of a project should actually be viewed as a project in its own right. A completion date is what everybody has been working towards and so by that date, the client/sponsor/business owner (to be termed client from here on in) needs to be happy that the project has been fully completed to his requirements. The project team needs to be able to recognise the projects achievements, of their part in a job well done and be able to discuss lessons learned that might be able to be applied to future projects. 1.2 Without proper control, once the majority of the project has been completed, a project might be allowed to just fade away without any formal recognition and redistribution of resources such as staff, facilities and equipment.
