Mr. William S. Stavropolous, president and CEO of Dow Chemicals, utilized Collective-Participative decision making to make Dow Chemical Corporation the fifth largest chemical company in the world. Mr. Stavropolous believed a diversity of ideas was essential in the company's decision making process and thus developed a corporate decision making structure where he received multi-level input through open communication channels to increase creativity and optimization. Within this corporate structure, he and Dow's management leaders utilized Rational Decision Making and analytic logic as the basis for their decisions.
