Government Help and Legal issues Government Help Assisted areas In some areas of the country there is high unemployment and less firms. The government is allowed to give regional selective assistance (RSA). If the government wants to encourage business in that area, the government gives the business that base their firm in that particular area grants. These grants usually cover 5-15 percent of the total costs. These grants are designed to help job creation and attract international businesses. Inner cities Cities with poverty and lack of businesses are a big problem. In the 1980s, the government developed 12 urban development corporations (UDCs) to improve aspects of the city such as roads, buildings etc to modernize the city and attract businesses. New Deal The new deal is another way in which the government tackles poverty in which they encourage people to work and if that person works the government might give then more money to work.
