Would it be worth opening a public house in Mytchett? Background Public houses are a business that lies on the border as far as business classification is concerned. A Pub could be classified as a service sector business in that it is supplying the general public with services such as watching a football game on a big screen or using a pool table however pubs are generally classified as retailers as they are selling goods. A pub traditionally is a building licensed to sell alcoholic beverages to the general public in accordance with the law. This traditional image however has changed dramatically since licensed pubs were first opened. More common now are pub/restaurants where the consumer can not only buy drinks but also have a sit down meal or be served food in the bar area.
