... Section 2 Why now? The Product Life Cycle (PLC) Any new product will have an expected life cycle; this is the length of time the manufacture expects the product to sell. This is a PLC diagram made up of a series of stages. The first stage is the development and introduction of the product. The business invests lots of money into researching for the new product, at this stage the product is making no money for the business it is costing the business money. In the introduction the product is being launched on to the market, a promotion campaign and a large amount of advertising will take place at this stage. There are many rides at Alton Towers but none at this stage at the moment. The second stage is the growth, the product becomes known in the market sales start to increase the advertising is continued but not as much as the first stages;
