The period of 1924 - 1929, on the surface appeared to be a relatively stable time in German history. This epoch is widely acknowledged and referred to as the 'golden years' - a time of economic growth and prosperity and political calmness. The invasion of the Ruhr and the repercussions of hyperinflation had left Germany weak, however the influx of foreign loans appeared to stabilise the economy, was this the case, or was Germany merely setting herself up for an even larger fall? From the end of the war to 1923, the democratic political system came under constant threat - nonetheless from 1924 onwards, the Weimar government became an accepted part of Germany society.
