'Did the lives of the mass of the German people improve or worsen as a result of the Nazis' economic policies?' There are different situations, with different groups of people who were affected by Nazi economic policy both positively and negatively. Groups such as the working class benefited from reduced unemployment, yet were affected badly by the drop in wages. The Mittelstand benefited from the eradication of new Jewish department stores, yet farmers suffered as a result of the Reich Entailed Farm Law. Therefore there are different aspects of the affect that Nazi economic policy had against the mass of the German people. The some areas of the Mittelstand did benefit from policies such as the Law to Protect Retail Trade created in 1933 by Gottfried Feder and Otto Wagener.
