Investigate the reasons for the growth and spatial organisation of TNC's (Trans-national Corporations). A major development over the last 70 years has been the massive growth of TNC's. These are large profit motivated organisations that are situated throughout many counties across the globe. The origin lies not in these past seventy years but much further back to the time of the great empires of the seventeenth to nineteenth centuries. In these empires such as the Dutch VOC trading company there would be organisations set up to deal with trade and import and export all over the world, for example, exporting foreign resources all over the world to trade with. This shows that this idea of a TNC is not a unique one but more of an adaptation of an old one.
