By holding the WTO conference in Hong Kong, will it promote or hurt economy of Hong Kong? The Sixth WTO (World Trade Organization) Ministerial Conference was held in Hong Kong during the time period of 13-18 December 2005. This had surely been one week of chaos - many schools were closed, many stores decided not to open due to the dangerous protests and riots, and even the busy streets of Causeway Bay turned out to be quite bare. However, I think that by holding the WTO Ministerial Conference in Hong Kong, it will promote the economy rather than hurt it. Even though many social problems such as riots and protests aroused, the outcome will surely further advance our economy because the WTO conference had created more job opportunities for Hong Kong, helped to promote Hong Kong for free, and last of all, will attract more tourists and companies in the future....
