Promotion Mix The business world is now so competitive that 'Promotion' has become increasingly important. Promotion is the way in which a business draws attention to itself and its production. There are two main types of promotion: - Above the Line - Below the Line 'Above the Line' promotion uses media such as television, magazines, radio, cinema, newspaper, posters and the Internet. With advertising on national TV, the business or service can reach a vast audience. An advantage of this is that the advertising can be targeted, for e.g. adverts for children's toys will be shown during children's programmes in the afternoon and early afternoon. But, the disadvantage is that it's very expensive and the message is short-lived. Advertising on commercial radio stations carry advertisements that employ sound to communicate their message.
