Drama Coursework My performance of Rumpelstiltskin was devised from a story adapted by Carol Ann Duffy for the Grimm Tales. I played the role of Rumpelstiltskin, and our performance was set in England in the 17th Century. I have also studied three other plays/texts; Metamorphosis, a play set in Germany in 1920's/1930's, Just So Stories, a play set in England in the 1900's, Rumpelstiltskin, the story, set in the 17th Century, and in a fairytale castle. The places and time that these texts were set in change the style of acting in the play. For Example- Just So Stories set in 1900's, the characters were of high class as their voices were proper and posh. Rumpelstiltskin is a tragedy and a perfect example of a fairytale that has changed into a grotesque nature. Metamorphosis is purely physical theatre, using all the aspects of un-naturalistic styles.
