What issues are raised from the excavation at Aboukir Bay and what's your opinion? In 1798, 1st of August, the 13 ships of Admiral Nelson, at Aboukir Bay, attacked the French fleet supporting Napoleon in conquering Egypt and India. The French had been trying to cover from the British while Nelson managed to find them. Although Nelson had four fewer ships that Admiral Bruey d'Aigalliers, the bad position of the French fleet, who tried to protect themselves behind rock s and lands, allowed the British to attack the French boats which were unarmed. This means that they didn't have to worry a lot for the return fire and also the French Orient, which had 120 cannons, found in difficulties as well. Finally the Orient exploded after been attacked from multiple boats, giving the victory to the British and the French came back with only four ships. The graveyard of Aboukir Bay has...
