Biology Coursework: Investigation of Speed of Woodlice in Areas of Different Light Intensities Plan Hypothesis In my experiment the independent variable is light intensity and it will be measured by 1/distance of a lamp. There are many other variables, which must be kept constant or this will not be a fair test. They are: species of woodlouse, there are two main species but I am to use the same species, the Porcellio Scabar, throughout so it does not matter, they are very similar anyway. The other conditions which I will monitor are temperature, which, as the lamp gives off both heat and light I will put a transparent screen in the way to absorb any heat but allow light through, and humidity which will be controlled by keeping any water well away from any of the apparatus. Prediction As the light intensity goes down and the lamp gets further away the speed of the woodlouse...
