What Affects The Amount Of OSMOSIS In Potato Chips Plan Aim My aim is to see the amount of osmosis which takes place in different sugar solutions Possible Variables Amount of sugar solution Temp Size of potato Type of potato Strength of solution Diameter of borer Actual Variable I am going to change the strength of the sugar solution Method Apparatus Scales Borer Potatoes Measuring cylinder Test tubes Sugar Plan I am going to do an experiment to see how osmosis works and what happens. Firstly I will use a cork borer to take 2 pieces of potato of similar size and weight. Next I will record there weights separately correct to two decimal points and place one in 25cm2 of 0.1 molar sugar solution and the other into 25cm2 of distilled water. I will leave these in the solution for 20 minutes. Now I will take the pieces of potato out of the test tubes and record their new weights ensuring that I do not muddle up the 2 pieces...
