Diagram Planning Apparatus 5 boiling tubes Cork borer Salt soultion Distilled water Potatoes Ruler Aim The aim of this experiment is to see the change in lenght of a potato tissue when left in different concentrations of salt solution. Osmosis is the movement of water molecules from a high, to a low concentrated area across a semi-permeable membrane. The hydrostatic skeleton in a plant transports nutrients and minerals to the roots by using osmosis; eventually this plant needs water for photosynthesis through the xylem. The potato tissue will act as the plant in the experiment and I need to use specific apparatus to give the most reliable results. Such as the distilled water is the purest and contains nothing that would eventually affect the experiment, this affects the water potential in the experiment. When deciding on the method I would choose for obtaining results from this experiment, I had to consider the valid causes and effects of Osmosis, which will later...
