Osmosis Coursework Aim The aim of this investigation is to see how different concentrations of sugar solutions affect the mss of potato pieces. By the end I hope to have found out why we get particular results and at which concentration does the mass of a potato piece stay the same. This means the bathing solution is in equilibrium to the potato cell sap. Prediction In my investigation I think that depending on how strong the sugar solution is that baths potato pieces osmosis will take place in a faster or slower rate. If the sugar solution is strong than (figure 1) will occur. (Figure 1 ) (1) The solution outside the cell is more concentrated then the cell sap. (2) Water diffuses out of the volecule.
