Osmosis Assessment Osmosis is the diffusion of water from a dilute solution to a more concentrated solution through a partially permeable membrane that allows the passage of water molecules but not solute molecules. This basically means water diffuses from where it's in a high concentration to where's it's in a low concentration. Aim: To investigate the effect of varying concentrations of a certain sugar solutions on the amount of osmotic activity between the solution and a potato chip of a given size. Plan: I plan to find out by using cut potatoes in the shape of chips to study osmosis, by seeing how different concentrated and a pure water solution will effect the chip. I will study water moving from a high concentration, to a low concentration along a concentration gradient.
