Aim: To investigate the effect of different concentration of sucrose solution on potato tissue. Equipment: Sucrose Solution Water 3 x test tubes 3 x measuring cylinders Test tube rack Scales Stop-clock Method: I am going to use the following concentrations of sucrose solution in this experiment: 1. 10ml of water (0M) 2. 7ml of water, 3ml of sucrose (0.25M) 3. 5ml of water, 5ml of sucrose (0.5M) 4. 3ml of water, 7ml of sucrose (0.75M) 5. 10ml of sucrose (1M) 1. Weigh a potato chip 2. Using a measuring cylinder measure out the first of the above solutions. 3. Pour the solution into a test-tube and place in the test-tube rack. 4. Put the potato chip into the test-tube 5. Time 5 mins on the stop-clock 6. Remove the potato chip from the solution 7. Weigh it again 8. Calculate the mass it has gained/lost and record the results 9. Repeat experiment 3 times to ensure fair test 10.
