Assessed GCSE Investigation Aim - To investigate the effect of different concentrations of sucrose solution on the length of potato chips and to identify the concentration, which is isotonic to the potato cells. Prediction - I predict that in the tap water the chips will increase in length the most and in the molar sucrose solution increases in strength, then the chips will decrease in length. Scientific Knowledge - We did an investigation in class where we investigated the effect of tap water and one molar sucrose solution on the length of potato chips. We also worked out the % change in length and the overall average % change... Here are my results... We found out that the chips from the tap water felt turgid and the chips from the 1, molar sucrose felt flaccid. I have used this investigation to plan another experiment, which should enable me to get a bigger number of results...
