Aim: To find the effect of osmosis on the cells of a potato chip when its put into different sucrose solutions of varying amounts. Apparatus/ Diagram: Potato chips, glass beaker, filter paper, blotting paper, scales, tweezers, 6 sucrose solutions of varying concentration. Prediction: I predict that the sucrose solution will affect the weight of the final mass. The higher the solution of sucrose the less the mass will increase. Therefore distilled water will make the potato chip gain the most mass. Method: First we cut out several potato chips and added them into several different beakers containing varying sucrose solutions. The chips were then left in the solution for 5 hours for a reaction to occur. After 5 hours the chips were removed from the beakers and the excess liquid on them was left to dry out on blotting paper. This was to ensure that there wasn't too much solution...
