Biology Coursework: Plan Variables The experiment that I will be doing is to measure osmosis in potatoes with a number of different variables. The variable that I will be using is salt concentration. The higher concentrations of salt solution will cause water to diffuse out of the potato because there will be more free water molecules inside the potato than out so the potato will become flaccid. The surface area will depend on the length so those two variables will be combined. Apparatus and Plan The apparatus that I will need for this experiment are a cork borer, test tubes, test-tube rack, mat, scalpel, a digital balance and a ruler. My plan for this experiment is to get a potato and take a cork borer and cut 5 equal length pieces and weigh them before osmosis and after. After I have weighed them I will...
