Osmosis Investigation Introduction Plan We got a corer and cut some cylinders of potato 3cm long. We put them in Petri dishes and filled them with 20ml of different strength sugar solutions. We then left them for 10 minutes before removing them from the Petri dishes and getting rid of the excess sugar solution. We then weighed them and recorded the results. We had to avoid eating the potato and drinking the sugar because it is for laboratory use. We made this a fair test by repeating it three times to make sure it was accurate, using the same amount of potato and using the same amount of sugar solution. We measured the weight of the potato before and after. We are repeating the experiment so that if one time it is not what we would expect then we can take an average and still get good results.
