Aim: My aim is to find out or prove how concentration affects osmosis. I will be placing potatoes in solutions of glucose of different concentrations and water and weighing them before and after to find a conclusion to my aim. Theory: Cell membranes hold everything inside the cell but also allow things to enter and escape. Only very small molecules like glucose and amino acids can get through a cell membrane. Everything else has to stay where it is. - diffusion. The process I will be looking at is osmosis. Osmosis is a special type of diffusion. Osmosis is the movement of water molecules across a partially permeable membrane from a region of high water concentration to a region of low water concentration. The holes in a partially permeable membrane are so small only water molecules can get through. Glucose is too big to pass through the membrane. Water...
