Investigation to determine the concentration of sucrose in potato For this investigation I want to find out what effect different concentrations of sucrose in water have on potato slices. Our aim is to explore osmosis and its effects on different concentrations of water. We know that Osmosis is the passage of water from a region of high water concentration through a semi-permeable membrane to a region of low water concentration. From this we can deduce that the lower the sucrose concentration in the solution the higher the rate of osmosis will be. We know this because, only the water will pass through into the potato where as the sucrose cannot. It is important to make this investigation a fair test so that our results are accurate and reliable. We can do this be using the same verity, age and size of potato. Making sure we use the same scales to weigh...
