GCSE BIOLOGY COURSEWORK PLAN Aim: Investigation into one of the factors that affects the rate of enzyme reaction. There are many factors, which could be used to find out the rate of enzyme reaction, * Number of slices of potato (this is the one I will be using in the experiment) * Size of potato - This experiment will depend on the relationship between the surface area of the chip and the Hydrogen Peroxide * Temperature - In general, chemical reactions speed up as the temperate is raised. This involves the 'collision theory' that is a result of an increase in kinetic energy. Also by using temperature as one of the factors you cannot exceed 40-50OC as it will denature enzymes. It is also very hard to control if you have to lower the temperature as you have to use ice- cubes * pH control- In some cases it is very hard to control the level...
