Investigating the factors affecting osmosis in plant tissue Aim: - To produce an experiment to investigate the effect of different concentrations of sucrose in a bathing solution on osmosis (the effect of water molecules moving through a membrane from an area of low concentration to an area of high concentration). Hypothesise: - 1. Above a 0.3 mol dm sq. concentration of sucrose in the bathing solution the potato will loose mass 2. Below 0.3 mol dm sq. concentration of sucrose in the solution the potato will gain mass 3. At 0.3 mol dm sq. concentration of sucrose in the solution the potato will remain at the same mass Justification: - 1. I think that above 0.3 mol dm sq. concentration of sucrose the potato will loose mass.
