Introduction For this coursework I have to investigate an enzyme reaction, the reaction that I will be investigating will be the breakdown of hydrogen peroxide (which is a poison) by catalyse (which is the enzyme). When is is broken down the result products of this reaction are water (h2o) and oxygen (o2). In my coursework experiment, I am going to investigate the amount of oxygen produced when a source of catalase enzyme is added to hydrogen peroxide, H O . In my experiment, I am going to focus on how the concentration of the peroxide affects the rate of reaction i.e. the concentration goes up, the rate of reaction increases. The catalyst is one, which makes the peroxide decompose into water and oxygen. An enzyme is a biological catalyst.
