Investigating the Change in Mass of Potato Pieces When Placed in Different Sugar solutions My Experiment will hopefully show how different solutions of sugar can affect osmosis; Osmosis is the movement of water from where it is in a high concentration to a low concentration through a partially permeable membrane. In this experiment the potato is our plant cell and the partially permeable membrane is the cell wall. I will collect data that will show us what difference the solutions will actually have had on the potato pieces. Preliminary Experiment Equipment:- * 3 Pieces of Potato * 1 Petri Dish * Top Pan Balancer * Distilled Water * Cork borer Method:- 1. Prepare Potato pieces using cork borer 2. Fill Petri dish with distilled water 3. Weigh Potato pieces individually and record 4. Place potato pieces in Petri dish 5. Leave for 1 hour 6.
