Investigating the Affect of Different Concentrations of Sugar Solution on Potato "Chips" Prediction: I believe that as the sugar solution increases in concentration the potato chips will increase in mass by less each time. I think that in the dilute solution the potato chips will increase in mass, whereas in the concentrated sugar solution the potato chips will decrease in mass. Hypothesis: osmosis is the movement of water from an area of high water concentration to an area of low concentration through a semi-permeable membrane. Osmosis is related in this experiment because the water outside the potato in the cell membrane will move inside the cell membrane because there is a lower concentration. It is also related because the sugar solution will move out of the cell membrane when there is already sugar there because there is a lower concentration.
