Investigating Turgor in Potato Tissue Aim: - To see how concentration affects plant tissue. Variables Cross - sectional area of the potato tube - If the area of the cross section is bigger then there will be more diffusion and therefore more water being passed in or out of the potato tube because it is a bigger area. The amount of time left in the solution - The longer the potato tubes are left in the solution the more diffusion of water there will be. An example would be, if a potato tube where left in a solution for ten seconds compared to two minutes there would be more diffusion after two minutes. The concentration of the solution - The more concentrated the solution with sugar, then higher the rate of diffusion because the gradient is steeper.
