Investigating Osmosis in potato cell. Introduction We know that osmosis will occur across a semi-permeable membrane when there is a difference between the water concentrations on the two sides of the membrane. I have researched that the solution with the lower concentration will pass through the membrane to balance the two concentrations. Prediction: I predict that the potato cylinder will decrease in size, depending on the strength of the sugar solution. The higher the concentration the more osmosis will occur. The fact that osmosis occurs from a high concentration to a low one, and as the Potato is higher content of water than the sugar solution water will go into the sugar solution, reducing the potatoes size.
